A Message From The President

My Dearest OPSA Sisters, Friends, and Benefactors,

I greet you with a heart full of gratitude, joy, and humility.

As President of United OPSA USA, it is both a profound honor and a deeply personal journey to serve in this role. My roots with Queen of the Rosary College, Okoyong Mamfe, run deep—I was a proud student of Queen of the Rosary College from 1988-1995. I carry those years with me as a cherished reminder of my humble beginnings and the strength that shaped me into the woman I am today.

Growing up in Victoria, the road to Okoyong was not always easy—literally and figuratively. The journey was often long and challenging due to difficult road conditions. Yet, despite these obstacles, I always looked forward to returning to school. Why? Because QRC was more than a school—it was home. It was the music, the dancing, the camaraderie, and the sacred church services that filled my soul. It was the sisterhood that blossomed within those walls—one that continues to endure across continents and generations.

Being part of this beautiful association—United OPSA USA—brings me full circle. It is a call to give back, to uplift, and to sow into the lives of the next generation. My passion, my why, is to enhance the education of the girl child. Because I believe, as Michelle Obama so powerfully said, “When girls are educated, their countries become stronger and more prosperous.”

This belief is echoed by countless champions of girl education. Malala Yousafzai once said, “We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back.” At United OPSA USA, we are committed to making sure that no girl is held back—not by circumstance, not by opportunity, and certainly not by a lack of support.

We are building bridges for those coming behind us. As Graça Machel reminds us, “If we don’t invest in the future of the girl child, we are failing the future of the world.” This is why our mission matters. This is why we continue to stand tall and give back—because the girl child is the mother, the teacher, the leader, and the nurturer of generations to come.

Let us continue to honor our legacy by being the change we once needed. Let us lift each other higher and create pathways for the girls who will one day take our place.

With pride and purpose,
Eveline Nkea-Nyochembeng
President, United OPSA USA
